Our third session of the year

We’re coming for the second time in Scotland !

16 years after our first visit in Scotland, we’re back with a wonderful programme. We’ll be conducted by Gordon Bragg and accompagnied by the soloists Afonso Fesch (Violon) and Alexandre Foster (Cello).

Gordon Bragg

Gordon Bragg has an extremely diverse musical life as a violinist, conductor and pianist, performing regularly throughout Scotland and the UK. Gordon is Sub-principal Second Violin of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, performing across the UK and touring worldwide.

Following studies in Manchester and Zürich, Gordon has conducted the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie and Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and led a critically-acclaimed performance of Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire with Scottish Ballet at the Edinburgh International Festival. With SCO Gordon has conducted at the St Magnus Festival as well as conducting various works for the SCO’s digital seasons.

Afonso Fesch

Born in Porto, Portuguese violinist Afonso Fesch has built a prolific career as a chamber musician, soloist, and orchestral player across Europe. His artistic development was shaped by esteemed mentors, including Yossif Grinman, Gerardo Ribeiro, Pavel Vernikov, Dora Schwarzberg, Raphaël Oleg, Rainer Schmidt, and Ivry Gitlis.
As a soloist, he has appeared with leading ensembles including the Hamburger Symphoniker, Staatsorchester Kassel, Basel Sinfonieorchester, Porto Symphony Orchestra at Casa da Música, International Mahler Orchestra, Harbin Symphony
Orchestra, and the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker.

Soloist, Cello

Alexandre Foster

Alexandre Foster is the principal cellist of the baroque ensemble “Les Passions de l’Ame” (Bern) and invited principal cellist of the Kammerorchester Basel and Sinfonietta Basel.

Over the years, he has performed as a modern cellist as well as a baroque cellist with leading artists of both disciplines in some of the most prestigious halls in Europe (Casa da Música, KKL, Herkulesaal, a.o.).

 A devoted chamber musician, he has been sharing the stage with musician such as Anton Kernjak, Silvia Simionescu, Maurice Steger, Sini Simonen, Christine Busch, Els Biesemans, Krystian Bezuidenhout, among others.
