Conductor

Pablo Pegalajar

Our conductor will be Pablo Pegalajar, a young Spanish conductor and researcher with a particular interest in Andalusian symphonic music and orchestral traditions. After beginning his career in Spain, he continued his orchestral conducting studies in the United States with the support of a Fulbright Grant and a “la Caixa” scholarship. He pursued his doctoral studies at the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati and was appointed Conducting Fellow of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for the 2023–24 season. His research focuses on increasing the visibility of Andalusian symphonic repertoire and developing cultural and musical links between Spain and the United States. He has also worked with the Fundación Archivo Manuel de Falla in Granada and the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla. His connection with Granada and his knowledge of Andalusian musical heritage make him a particularly fitting conductor for this EDO meeting.
